Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan Strengthen Regional Cooperation

Tashkent, June 22, 2024, The Europe Today: Zafarbek Ahmedov, the Consul General of Uzbekistan, held a meeting with Maadanbek Karayev, the chairman of the Jalalabad regional office of the Kyrgyz Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The meeting, reported by Uzbek media, focused on exploring the prospects for further development in trade, economic, investment, culture, and tourism sectors between Uzbekistan and the Jalalabad region of Kyrgyzstan.

During the dialogue, the Kyrgyz representative commended the progressive policies of Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. He specifically highlighted the President’s efforts to foster close and friendly relations with neighboring countries. Karayev expressed satisfaction with the steady development of cooperation between the two nations, particularly between the Jalalabad and Namangan regions, across various sectors in recent years.

The meeting brought together representatives from the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of both countries, as well as officials and business leaders from Jalalabad and Namangan regions. They exchanged views on further deepening their cooperation and recognized the significant potential for strengthening partnerships between these regions.

At the conclusion of the negotiations, the parties agreed to undertake joint projects in the construction sector, increase the volume of construction product imports from Uzbekistan, enhance tourist exchanges, and continue dialogue on other collaborative issues.
