Peshawar, September 08, 2024 — The Europe Today: Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has rejected a summary from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) provincial government seeking the appointment of a sixth adviser to the cabinet. This decision marks another chapter in the ongoing tension between the governor and the provincial administration.
According to an official statement from the Governor’s House Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Governor Kundi returned the summary to the KP government, citing a constitutional provision. The governor asserted that under Section 130(11) of the Constitution, the chief minister is limited to appointing a maximum of five advisers. The official confirmed that the summary was rejected on these grounds.
As per protocol, the governor must approve the appointment of advisers as proposed by the chief minister. The rejection of this latest summary places Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in a difficult position, raising questions about how the provincial government will respond to this setback.
Governor Kundi and Chief Minister Gandapur, both hailing from the Dera Ismail Khan district, have been at odds since the beginning of Gandapur’s tenure. The chief minister has previously issued critical statements regarding the governor, while Kundi has accused the provincial government of failing to maintain law and order and address fundamental issues.
The rejection of the summary highlights the continuing friction between the governor and the chief minister, potentially impacting the functioning and effectiveness of the provincial cabinet.
