Karachi, November 21, 2024 — The Europe Today: Colonel General Karim Valiyev, the First Deputy Minister of Defense and Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijan Army, held a high-level meeting with General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, during his visit to Karachi. The discussions, as reported by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense, focused on strengthening military ties and advancing strategic cooperation between the two nations.
Colonel General Valiyev highlighted Azerbaijan’s commitment to fostering relations with Pakistan, describing it as a priority set by President Ilham Aliyev, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan. He noted that collaboration with Pakistan spans various sectors, including defense, and emphasized the need to expand joint military exercises and training programs.
The meeting also included a discussion on regional and global security challenges, with both sides exchanging perspectives on counterterrorism efforts. Colonel General Valiyev condemned the recent terror attack in the Tirah valley in northwestern Pakistan, extending condolences to the victims’ families and expressing solidarity with Pakistan in its fight against terrorism.
