London, November 22, 2024 – The Europe Today: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto was hosted for a luncheon on Thursday by Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Angela Rayner, at Lancaster House in London, where they discussed key issues in the food sector, with a focus on improving children’s nutritional intake.
According to a statement from President Prabowo’s secretariat on Friday, the two leaders engaged in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, also touching upon the importance of children’s nutrition. During the luncheon, President Prabowo shared Indonesia’s plans to implement the Free Nutritious Meals program, aimed at improving the nutritional intake of children across the nation.
“We discussed several matters, and I explained Indonesia’s plan to carry out the nutritious meals initiative for our children. The UK delegation was very impressed and expressed keen interest in assisting us,” President Prabowo said.
This dialogue was seen as an opportunity to further strengthen the partnership between Indonesia and the UK, with both sides acknowledging the shared commitment to tackling various challenges, including social welfare and climate change. The Indonesian president highlighted that the exchange reflected the deepening cooperation between the two nations on multiple fronts.
At the beginning of the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Rayner expressed her appreciation for President Prabowo’s visit and conveyed her hope that under his leadership, Indonesia and the UK would continue to deepen their bilateral ties.
Accompanying President Prabowo at the luncheon were Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, Human Rights Minister Natalius Pigai, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives’ Commission I, Budi Djiwandono.
