Minsk, November 30, 2024 – The Europe Today: Belarus has reiterated its strong support for the Palestinian people’s efforts to establish an independent and viable state, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lukashevich said during a commemoration at the House of Friendship on 29 November, marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.
Lukashevich emphasized Belarus’s belief in the inalienable right of Palestinians to establish their own independent and territorially integral state. He stressed that such a state should coexist peacefully with Israel within internationally recognized borders. “This right will certainly be realized,” he remarked, underscoring Belarus’s unwavering stance.
He further highlighted that Palestine is currently recognized as a sovereign state by more than 130 countries, including permanent members of the UN Security Council, Russia and China.
During the event, Lukashevich conveyed a message from Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, which called for the de-escalation of tensions in the Middle East and the swift achievement of peace and security. The message emphasized that stability and economic development in Palestine, as well as in the broader region, could only be achieved through peaceful resolutions.
In a symbolic gesture of support, Sergei Lukashevich handed over the original message from President Lukashenko to the Palestinian ambassador in Minsk.
