Gia Lai, January 7, 2025 – The Europe Today: Party General Secretary Tô Lâm has called on Gia Lai Province in Vietnam’s Central Highlands to demonstrate a strong commitment to development, focusing on sustainable practices, organic agriculture, and the region’s unique cultural and ecological assets.
During a working session on Monday to assess the province’s implementation of the 13th National Party Congress and 16th Provincial Party Congress Resolutions, Lâm emphasized the importance of aligning with Central Party directives and strategies to achieve comprehensive and inclusive economic growth.
He outlined three key development pillars for the province:
- High-tech, sustainable, and organic agriculture: Enhancing agricultural productivity and value through technological applications.
- Processing industries and renewable energy: Capitalizing on the province’s comparative advantages.
- Tourism as a green economy sector: Developing tourism with a unique identity rooted in the Central Highlands’ distinctive culture.
Lâm stressed improving the investment environment, boosting private-sector growth, and expanding successful collective economic models such as cooperatives and OCOP (One Commune—One Product) initiatives.
Infrastructure development was highlighted, with a focus on digital transformation, transport connectivity, irrigation systems, and facilities supporting industry and tourism.
The province was tasked with effectively implementing three national target programs: rural development, poverty reduction, and improving socio-economic conditions for ethnic minorities and mountainous regions.
He also emphasized the critical role of Gia Lai in national security and defence, urging vigilance against hostile forces and the promotion of cross-border security and cooperation.
Lâm commended the province’s progress, noting its average economic growth rate of 6.21% during the 2020-2025 period, substantial forest coverage of 47.5%, and achievements in renewable energy projects, healthcare, and poverty reduction.
On this occasion, Lâm presented a health station worth VNĐ5 billion ($196,600) to Glar Commune in Đak Đoa District, reflecting the Party’s commitment to improving healthcare for residents.
With continued efforts, he expressed confidence that Gia Lai would achieve significant breakthroughs, laying the foundation for rapid, sustainable development and enhanced living standards for its people.
