Minsk, January 11, 2025 – The Europe Today: The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the agreement signed between the governments of Belarus and Russia on June 19, 2020, concerning the mutual recognition of visas and entry procedures for foreign citizens and stateless persons, will officially come into force on January 11, today.
The agreement outlines a unified process for foreign nationals and stateless individuals to cross the joint borders of Belarus and Russia, including land sections previously accessible only to Belarusian and Russian citizens.
Under the agreement, both nations will recognize each other’s visas, granting holders the right to enter and stay within the territories of Belarus and the Russian Federation. Additionally, the agreement covers the recognition of border-crossing records for the Union State of Belarus and Russia.
However, both parties reserve the right to deny entry or limit the stay of any foreign citizen or stateless individual within their respective territories. They also retain the authority to ensure compliance with entry, exit, transit, and residency rules.
“This agreement represents a significant step towards establishing a unified migration space within the Union State,” the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.
