Astana, January 28, 2025 – The Europe Today: An expanded meeting of the Kazakh Government, chaired by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, commenced in Astana, media sources report. The meeting is taking place against the backdrop of significant global shifts that may have profound implications for Kazakhstan’s economic landscape.
In his opening remarks, President Tokayev emphasized the impact of worldwide changes on the nation’s economy. “The global processes may have a profound effect on the country’s economic situation. We should bear in mind that the transition to a new technological order based on total digitalization will lead to brand-new realities in the world. We should be ready for that,” the President stated.
He underscored that Kazakhstan’s ability to successfully adapt to these new realities will be a key factor in enhancing the nation’s competitiveness and ensuring its sustainable progress. “Successful adaptation to new realities will become a shaping factor of the country’s competitiveness and sustainable progress,” Tokayev noted.
The President also pointed out that the effectiveness of the Government and akims (governors and mayors) will be evaluated primarily based on economic development and improvements in citizens’ living standards.
Today’s expanded meeting, according to the President, is intended to review the outcomes of 2024 and set out urgent tasks that need to be addressed in the coming months to ensure the nation’s continued progress.
Earlier this month, on January 23, Kazakh Prime Minister Bektenov led a meeting to discuss strategies for achieving sustainable economic growth, setting the stage for broader discussions on the country’s long-term development trajectory.
