First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva and Leyla Aliyeva Visit Childcare Institutions in Baku

Baku, April 16, 2025 — The Europe Today: First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva and Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva visited two key childcare institutions in Baku on Monday: Nursery No. 1 in the Nasimi district and Orphanage Social Service Institution No. 1 in the Nizami district.

Nursery No. 1, which currently provides care for 63 children under the age of three, has been under the regular attention of the First Vice-President and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. Demonstrating continuous commitment to the well-being of the youngest members of society, Mehriban Aliyeva and Leyla Aliyeva frequently visit the nursery, ensuring its residents receive proper care and support.

The nursery’s building, originally constructed in 1930, underwent a full-scale renovation initiated by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. The refurbished facility was inaugurated on May 10, 2015, with the participation of Mehriban Aliyeva.

Later in the day, the First Vice-President and Leyla Aliyeva visited Orphanage No. 1, which houses and supports 100 children between the ages of 3 and 18. The facility offers a comprehensive range of services, including education, sports, and healthcare, contributing to the well-rounded development of its residents.

The guests were welcomed warmly by the children, who performed poems, songs, and literary works in a heartfelt display of appreciation.

As longstanding patrons of the orphanage, Mehriban Aliyeva and Leyla Aliyeva regularly attend festive events and provide gifts, fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment for the children.

Since its establishment, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation has paid special attention to Orphanage No. 1, facilitating access to higher education, employment opportunities, and professional development for its residents. The facility underwent a major renovation in 2005 with the support of the Foundation and was reopened in the presence of the First Lady. In a notable milestone, two residents of the orphanage married in 2017, with the Foundation organizing their wedding and presenting them with an apartment and a car.

The visits reflect the continued dedication of the First Vice-President and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation to child welfare and the broader development of social services in Azerbaijan.
