Tehran, April 17, 2025 — The Europe Today: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi on Wednesday held a meeting with Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, who arrived in Tehran for an official two-day visit aimed at advancing nuclear diplomacy and cooperation.
Grossi, leading a technical delegation, landed at Tehran’s Mehrabad International Airport in the evening, where he was received by Behrouz Kamalvandi, spokesperson for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI).
During his stay, the IAEA chief is scheduled to meet with several senior Iranian officials, including Mohammad Eslami, Vice President and head of the AEOI, for detailed discussions on Iran’s nuclear program and future cooperation mechanisms.
This marks Grossi’s return to Iran following his previous visit in November, during which he held talks with newly-elected President Masoud Pezeshkian and other top officials. His current visit comes at a sensitive time for regional and international nuclear diplomacy, with stakeholders emphasizing the need for constructive dialogue and transparency.
In a post shared earlier this week on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Grossi wrote, “Continued engagement and cooperation with the Agency is essential at a time when diplomatic solutions are urgently needed.”
Iran has reiterated its commitment to working closely with the IAEA, emphasizing the importance of dialogue in ensuring the peaceful nature of its nuclear activities.
The visit is expected to include technical consultations, assessments of current safeguards, and discussions on pathways for resolving outstanding issues related to Iran’s nuclear file.
