Indonesia Invites Monaco to Ocean Impact Summit 2026

Jakarta, June 10, 2025 – The Europe Today: Indonesia has officially extended an invitation to the Principality of Monaco to participate in the Ocean Impact Summit (OIS), set to take place in Bali in June 2026, as part of efforts to enhance international cooperation on sustainable marine protection and utilization.

The invitation was conveyed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, Arif Havas Oegroseno, during a bilateral meeting with Monaco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, held on the sidelines of the Blue Economy and Finance Forum (BEFF) 2025 in Monaco.

According to a statement issued by Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, both officials discussed several strategic issues, including the preservation of marine ecosystems, coral reef conservation, and the protection of marine biodiversity. They also explored opportunities for collaboration in the blue economy, with particular emphasis on seaweed-based innovation, mangrove and coastal ecosystem conservation, and partnerships in the digital and financial sectors.

Deputy Minister Oegroseno represented Indonesia at BEFF 2025, which was held from June 7 to 8 as a special event of the United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC). He took part in the forum’s 4th plenary session titled “Ensuring Sustainable Ocean Governance and Finance”, including two key panel discussions.

The first panel, “Looking Forward: Global Solutions for Ocean Finance”, addressed practical mechanisms to bridge the global ocean funding gap, and highlighted transformative initiatives fostering a more inclusive and sustainable blue economy. The second panel focused on “Statements and Governance Recommendations”, emphasizing the need for political leadership and innovative policies to unlock sustainable investment in ocean-related sectors.

Indonesia’s active participation in BEFF 2025 reaffirmed its commitment to global maritime diplomacy, and its role in fostering international collaboration to protect and sustainably manage marine resources.

The BEFF, initiated by Prince Albert II of Monaco, was organized to leverage the momentum of UNOC and advance global dialogue on the blue economy, aiming to catalyze ocean-centered solutions for long-term environmental and economic sustainability.
