United States Imposes Sanctions on 18 Entities and Individuals for Aiding Iran in Sanctions Evasion

United States

Washington, D.C., August 8, 2025 – The Europe Today: The United States on Thursday imposed sanctions on 18 entities and individuals accused of assisting Iran in evading international sanctions, as part of a continued effort to disrupt what the U.S. Treasury Department described as “a network helping Iran evade sanctions.”

According to an official statement from the U.S. Treasury Department, the newly sanctioned parties include RUNC Exchange System Company and its leadership, Cyrus Offshore Bank, and Pasargad Arian Information and Communication Technology Company, a major Iranian software holding firm.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent emphasized that the action is part of Washington’s broader strategy to curb Tehran’s ability to generate revenue and fund activities deemed threatening to regional and global security.

“Treasury will continue to disrupt Iran’s schemes aimed at evading our sanctions, block its access to revenue, and starve its weapons programs of capital in order to protect the American people,” Bessent stated.

The sanctions are expected to freeze any U.S.-based assets of the designated entities and individuals and prohibit U.S. persons from conducting business with them.

This move underscores Washington’s commitment to maintaining pressure on Iran over its nuclear ambitions, missile development, and regional influence operations. The U.S. government has reiterated its intention to hold accountable those who support or enable Iran’s efforts to bypass existing sanctions frameworks.
