Jakarta, June 28, 2026 – The Europe Today: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on Sunday said that the success of a nation is determined not by its ability to avoid problems but by its resolve to confront and overcome every challenge with courage and determination.
Addressing the closing session of the National Seminar at the Indonesian Science, Technology, and Industry Convention in Jakarta, President Prabowo emphasized the importance of accepting criticism, valuing constructive feedback, and working collectively to resolve national issues.
He said governments should not conceal or ignore shortcomings but instead acknowledge them openly and pursue effective solutions. “I believe that difficulties must be overcome and we must have the courage to face difficulties, the courage to admit difficulties, and work hard to find solutions to them,” he remarked.
The president assured participants, including university rectors and academics, that the government would carefully examine every recommendation and question presented during the seminar as part of its efforts to improve governance.
“I received a fairly extensive list of suggestions and questions. I promise I will pay attention to each one,” he said.
Prabowo noted that his approach had been shaped by the extensive feedback he had received over time, stressing that successful organizations, communities, and nations are those that honestly recognize their weaknesses and take concrete measures to address them.
He also reaffirmed his government’s commitment to safeguarding academic freedom on university campuses, saying that differences of opinion are a natural and valuable aspect of higher education when they contribute to ideas, innovation, and public welfare.
The Indonesian president expressed hope that universities would continue advancing science and technology for the benefit of society while reminding educators that both public and private educational institutions receive significant government support.
He pointed out that the private sector also benefits from state assistance, including electricity and fuel subsidies, underscoring that such support reflects the collective functioning of a nation.
