Jakarta, July 28, 2026 – The Europe Today: Indonesia’s Ministry of Social Affairs and the National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation on deradicalization through comprehensive social rehabilitation, mentoring, and social reintegration programs for beneficiaries.
The enhanced collaboration was discussed during a meeting between Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf and BNPT Head Eddy Hartono in Jakarta on Monday.
Speaking after the meeting, Minister Saifullah Yusuf said the partnership between the Ministry of Social Affairs and BNPT has been established for many years, with BNPT leading Indonesia’s deradicalization efforts while the ministry provides social rehabilitation services through its rehabilitation centers.
“We have been working together for a long time. BNPT takes the lead, and we at the Ministry of Social Affairs support them to ensure the program runs smoothly,” the minister said.
He explained that the rehabilitation process involves coordinated efforts by the Ministry of Social Affairs, BNPT, and other relevant government institutions to provide guidance and support that enables beneficiaries to recover, rebuild their lives, and reintegrate into their families and communities.
Under the program, individuals referred by BNPT receive a range of services at the ministry’s rehabilitation centers, including psychosocial counseling, medical rehabilitation, and empowerment training designed to prepare them for a successful return to society.
BNPT Head Eddy Hartono said the collaboration supports President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita vision, which has been incorporated into Indonesia’s 2025–2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN).
He highlighted the Ministry of Social Affairs’ strategic role in advancing deradicalization by providing social rehabilitation and reintegration services that help beneficiaries rebuild productive lives and strengthen community resilience.
Eddy also noted that rapid technological advancements have increasingly shifted the spread of radical ideologies into the digital sphere, making stronger preventive measures and cross-sectoral cooperation essential to addressing evolving security challenges.
To reinforce these efforts, he said, the Indonesian government has implemented the National Action Plan for the Prevention and Countering of Violent Extremism Conducive to Terrorism, which promotes coordinated action among government institutions and stakeholders to prevent radicalization, counter violent extremism, and foster long-term social stability.
