New York, September 21, 2026 – The Europe Today: Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo highlighted the Indonesian capital’s economic performance and investment potential during the U20 Mayoral Plenary in New York, outlining the city’s growth amid ongoing global economic challenges.
Speaking before global city leaders at Civic Hall, Pramono said Jakarta’s economy grew by 5.52 percent in the second quarter of 2026, while inflation remained at 2.5 percent.
He said the economic stability had contributed to investment inflows of approximately US$10.5 billion into Jakarta during the first six months of the year.
Pramono also used the U20 forum to promote investment opportunities and strengthen cooperation with city leaders and international partners.
“Jakarta is ready to open investment opportunities through 37 urban development projects with a potential investment value of US$7 billion,” he said, inviting city partners, the business community and global partners to participate in Jakarta’s urban development.
The U20 Mayoral Plenary brought together mayors and governors from cities around the world. New York Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani delivered the opening address and outlined the three key themes of Urban 20 2026: affordable housing and homelessness; climate action, sustainability and urban resilience; and the protection of immigrant communities and human mobility.
The Urban 20 (U20) Mayoral Summit 2026 is being held in New York from September 19 to 21. The forum is expected to produce a consensus document and joint policy recommendations focused on sustainable urban development.
Pramono’s participation is also aimed at strengthening Jakarta’s international city-to-city cooperation. During his New York visit, he is scheduled to discuss areas including public transportation, air quality, coastal resilience, waste management and food affordability with New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
