Baku, June 4, 2025 – The Europe Today: Speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan, Sahiba Gafarova, met on Wednesday with the Ambassador of Pakistan to Azerbaijan, Qasim Mohiuddin, for discussions focused on strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.
During the meeting, Speaker Gafarova warmly recalled the recent official visit of Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to Azerbaijan, as well as the landmark trilateral summit held in Lachin involving the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Türkiye and the Prime Minister of Pakistan. She emphasized the summit’s significance in fostering deeper ties among the three brotherly nations.
Ambassador Mohiuddin reaffirmed the long-standing, fraternal relationship between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, expressing appreciation for Azerbaijan’s unwavering support in various spheres. He also provided an update on the Pakistan-India conflict and conveyed gratitude for Azerbaijan’s principled stance on the issue.
Speaker Gafarova reiterated Azerbaijan’s consistent support for resolving the conflict through peaceful means and dialogue, in accordance with international law and relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions. She also expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s strong backing of Azerbaijan during the 44-day Patriotic War, acknowledging the solidarity shown by Islamabad in support of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity.
The discussion underscored the important role of interparliamentary cooperation in advancing bilateral ties. Speaker Gafarova referred to her official visit to Pakistan in 2021 and her productive engagements with parliamentary counterparts during international events hosted there. Both sides noted the importance of continued collaboration between the legislative bodies of Azerbaijan and Pakistan in both bilateral and multilateral frameworks.
In addition, the meeting reaffirmed the significance of the Azerbaijan-Pakistan-Türkiye trilateral cooperation format and addressed other matters of mutual interest, reflecting the shared commitment to further strengthen ties across political, economic, and cultural domains.
