Dushanbe, October 10, 2025 – The Europe Today: President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan has emphasized the importance of Afghanistan’s inclusion in regional economic processes as a key factor in ensuring lasting peace and stability across Central Asia.
Speaking at the 2nd Central Asia–Russia Summit, President Tokayev expressed confidence that the outcomes of the Dushanbe summit would mark a new chapter in regional cooperation, according to Akorda.
The Kazakh leader noted that the situation in Afghanistan remains an integral element in strengthening regional security, stressing the need for coordinated and constructive engagement with the country to promote stability and economic development.
Tokayev suggested that the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) could play a useful role in facilitating regional dialogue and integration efforts. He also expressed hope that the newly established UN Regional Centre for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for Central Asia and Afghanistan would contribute to advancing solutions to shared challenges in the region.
Concluding his remarks, President Tokayev reaffirmed his belief that the Dushanbe summit would open new opportunities for collaboration among Central Asian nations and Russia, fostering greater stability, progress, and mutual prosperity across the region.
