Yogyakarta, November 07, 2025 – The Europe Today: The Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs reaffirmed its commitment to empowering women in the field of digital technology during the “She Connects: Women, Inspiration, and Digital Innovation” event held in Yogyakarta on Thursday.
Speaking at the event, the Ministry’s Director General of Public Communication and Media, Fifi Aleyda Yahya, emphasized that the digital world should not be perceived as complex, but rather as an open space offering vast opportunities for women to create, collaborate, and contribute to society.
“This digital world is increasingly opening its doors for women to learn, socialize, network, create, and initiate change. We are not just users, but also creators of opportunity,” Yahya remarked.
She also underscored the vital role of women in maintaining a healthy digital ecosystem within families and communities, particularly in countering misinformation and hate speech online. “If someone shares unclear news in a family group, we can be the reminder. Women can be the guardians of safe digital spaces,” she said.
Citing data from the Association of Indonesian Internet Service Providers (APJII), Yahya noted that Indonesia currently has more than 229 million internet users, of whom 49.1 percent are women. This, she added, represents a significant potential for women to strengthen their businesses, mobilize communities, and develop creative digital solutions.
Through the She Connects program, the ministry aims to expand inclusive digital talent development and ensure that no woman is left behind in Indonesia’s digital transformation. Yahya concluded by calling on participants to collaborate in building an inclusive and safe digital space for all.
