JakartaNovember 10, 2025 – The Europe Today: President Prabowo Subianto on Sunday night led a solemn reflection ceremony at Kalibata Heroes Cemetery in Jakarta to commemorate Indonesia’s 2025 National Heroes Day.

Arriving at 11:45 p.m., President Prabowo, accompanied by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, stood before the Garuda Pancasila Monument before ascending the steps to lay a wreath. The wreath carried this year’s National Heroes Day theme: “My Heroes, My Role Models. I Will Carry On Your Struggle.”

National Heroes Day, observed annually on November 10, honors Indonesia’s valiant resistance during the Battle of Surabaya in 1945, when Indonesians fought against foreign forces attempting to undermine the newly declared independence.

During the ceremony, President Prabowo delivered a brief yet poignant address, offering prayers for those who sacrificed their lives for Indonesia’s independence and sovereignty. He urged citizens to uphold the spirit of the nation’s heroes and to remember their service and courage.

“We should never forget their service and heroic acts,” the President said before leading a moment of silence, accompanied by the patriotic song “Mengheningkan Cipta” (A Moment of Silence) composed by Truno Prawit.

Following the reflection, President Prabowo led attending officials in saluting the fallen heroes before concluding the ceremony at 11:56 p.m. He departed the cemetery as midnight marked the beginning of National Heroes Day.

The ceremony was attended by nearly all members of the Red and White Cabinet, as well as leaders of major state institutions.

Among those present were National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, National Armed Forces Commander General Agus Subiyanto, Army Chief of Staff General Maruli Simanjuntak, Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Muhammad Ali, and Air Force Chief of Staff Marshal Tony Harjono.

All participants, including the President and Vice President, wore formal black suits paired with black peci hats and blue ties — a symbol of respect and unity in honoring Indonesia’s national heroes.
