Ashgabat, November 11, 2025 – The Europe Today: Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Myakhri Byashimova, met on Monday with Ms. Jamila Hammami, Deputy Head of the Regional Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Central Asia, to discuss ongoing and future humanitarian cooperation.
During the meeting, Deputy Minister Byashimova congratulated Ms. Hammami on her appointment and wished her success in her new responsibilities. The discussion highlighted the constructive nature of Turkmenistan’s collaboration with the ICRC and focused on the implementation of the 2025 Cooperation Plan between the Government of Turkmenistan and the ICRC.
The parties reviewed programs under the plan, including initiatives to promote international humanitarian law, support socially vulnerable groups, and strengthen the activities of the National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan. The prospects of Turkmenistan joining the Global Initiative, which aims to enhance political commitment to international humanitarian law, were also discussed.
Deputy Minister Byashimova emphasized Turkmenistan’s consistent provision of humanitarian assistance to countries affected by crises and emergencies. Particular attention was given to ongoing support for neighboring Afghanistan, as well as aid delivered to other nations through the Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship named after Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
The meeting also addressed the participation of the ICRC delegation in upcoming events, including activities marking the International Year of Peace and Trust, International Neutrality Day, and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent Neutrality.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continue constructive cooperation in priority areas of humanitarian partnership, strengthening Turkmenistan’s role in promoting humanitarian values and international law.
