Ashgabat, August 20, 2026 — The Europe Today: Political consultations between the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tajikistan were held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on August 20, 2026.
During the consultations, the sides exchanged views on a broad range of issues on the bilateral agenda, with particular attention given to further strengthening political and diplomatic cooperation.
The two sides highlighted the effectiveness of their partnership within the framework of the United Nations. In this regard, it was noted that Tajikistan has co-sponsored more than 30 resolutions adopted at Turkmenistan’s initiative.
Considerable attention was devoted to the development of trade and economic relations. The sides noted the steady growth in bilateral trade turnover and discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in energy, transport and communications, agriculture, trade and investment.
The participants also welcomed the holding in Dushanbe this year of the 14th meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Tajik Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, as well as the second meeting of the Turkmen-Tajik Business Council. These events, they noted, demonstrate the growing momentum of constructive bilateral partnership.
The consultations also placed significant emphasis on cultural and humanitarian cooperation. In this context, the sides discussed joint events planned for implementation in the near future.
At the conclusion of the consultations, both sides reaffirmed their readiness to continue constructive dialogue and further strengthen the friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Tajikistan based on their shared commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation.
