Indonesia

JakartaNovember 25, 2025 – The Europe Today: Indonesia’s Navy (TNI-AL) is preparing to deploy approximately 5,000 personnel as part of a proposed 20,000-strong international peacekeeping mission for the Gaza Strip, a senior naval official announced on Tuesday.

Rear Admiral Tunggul, Head of the TNI-AL Information Service, said the Navy is readying around 25 percent of the total personnel Indonesia plans to contribute, with the internal selection process currently underway. He emphasized that the mission requires personnel with specialized medical and construction engineering expertise to support humanitarian operations, treat civilian war victims, and develop temporary facilities in Gaza.

Earlier, National Armed Forces (TNI) Commander General Agus Subiyanto confirmed that Indonesia’s planned deployment would consist of three composite brigades, incorporating medical and construction engineering battalions, mechanized units, and supporting elements. He noted that the structured deployment aims to strengthen humanitarian assistance and operational readiness on the ground.

General Agus stated that the mission will move forward only after an advance team conducts a field assessment to evaluate conditions and identify appropriate deployment locations within Gaza. He added that no specific timeline has been set, as the military is awaiting final approval from the government.
