Finland Approves €98 Million 31st Defense Aid Package for Ukraine

Finland

Helsinki, January 17, 2026 – The Europe Today: Finland will send its 31st defense aid package to Ukraine, following approval by President Alexander Stubb on January 16 based on a proposal submitted by the government, Defense Minister Antti Häkkänen announced.

According to the Ministry of Defense, the latest package is valued at approximately €98 million, bringing Finland’s total defense assistance to Ukraine to around €3.1 billion, media reports said.

Häkkänen noted that the package was assembled on an accelerated timeline in order to respond to Ukraine’s most urgent needs. He added that a 2026 procurement program to support Ukraine, implemented in cooperation with Finland’s defense industry, is progressing as planned.

For security reasons, Finnish authorities are not disclosing details regarding the contents of the aid package, nor the delivery methods or timelines. Officials said the assistance was carefully calibrated to balance Ukraine’s needs with the operational capabilities and resources of the Finnish Defense Forces.

Earlier media reports indicated that Finland has classified certain information related to arms exports. While Israel was cited among countries requesting confidentiality, journalists noted that the majority of undisclosed weapons deliveries are intended for Ukraine.
