Algeria Expresses Solidarity with Azerbaijan Following Iran’s Drone Attacks

Baku, March 8, 2026 – The Europe Today: Algeria’s Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs Ahmed Attaf held a telephone conversation with Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov on March 8 to discuss regional and international security developments.

During the call, the two sides exchanged views on the evolving security situation in the region, including Iran’s drone attacks on Azerbaijan.

Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov described the attacks as an unacceptable act against Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also briefed his Algerian counterpart on the measures being taken by Azerbaijan in response to the situation.

Minister Ahmed Attaf expressed concern over the current developments and stressed that escalating tensions are unacceptable. He underscored the importance of resolving disputes through dialogue and diplomatic means in accordance with the norms and principles of international law.

The Algerian foreign minister also conveyed his country’s solidarity with Azerbaijan amid the ongoing situation.

During the conversation, both ministers also discussed prospects for strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and Algeria in various fields.
