Baku, March 13, 2026 – The Europe Today: Chairman of Azerbaijan’s State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture Anar Guliyev met with Anaclaudia Rossbach, Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), on March 12 to discuss preparations for the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) scheduled to be held in Baku in May.

According to Guliyev, the meeting focused on organizational preparations for the global event, which has already attracted significant international interest, with nearly 15,000 participants registered so far.

In a post shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Guliyev noted that both sides reviewed key organizational matters and the next steps in the preparation process. He expressed confidence that the upcoming forum will become an important international platform for addressing global challenges related to sustainable urban development and housing policy.

The discussions also covered prospects for expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and UN-Habitat, including joint initiatives and development projects being implemented in Garabagh and East Zangezur.

The World Urban Forum is one of the world’s leading international gatherings on urban issues, bringing together policymakers, urban planners, experts, and stakeholders to discuss sustainable city development and housing challenges.
