Dushanbe, April 30, 2026 – The Europe Today: Tajikistan and Belarus have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in the digital economy and information and communications technology (ICT), following high-level talks held on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) ministerial meeting.
The discussions took place between Khurshed Mirzo, Director of Tajikistan’s Agency for Innovation and Digital Technologies, and Kirill Zalessky, Minister of Communications and Informatization of Belarus.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed progress in implementing national digitalisation strategies, with a particular focus on the development of artificial intelligence, modernization of digital infrastructure, and the expansion of e-government services.
The talks also highlighted the importance of fostering a sustainable innovation ecosystem through support for startups, the establishment of joint technology centres, and the development of digital cooperation platforms. Cybersecurity, human capital development, and digital literacy were identified as key priority areas for collaboration.
Officials emphasised the value of sharing best practices and aligning efforts to accelerate digital transformation in both countries. They also expressed readiness to advance joint initiatives aimed at strengthening innovation capacity and enhancing the role of technology in economic growth.
The meeting underscored the growing importance of regional cooperation within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization framework in promoting digital development and building resilient, knowledge-based economies.
