Bandar Seri Begawan, May 3, 2026 – The Europe Today: More than 250 participants attended a Majlis Kesyukuran organized by the Community Development Department under the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (Brunei) in conjunction with National Family Day, celebrated annually on the first Sunday of May.
For 2026, the celebration falls on May 3 and is held under the theme “My Family, My Hope.”
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and a Doa Kesyukuran led by Imam Level II Sahibol Omar bin Haji Yusof from the Department of Mosque Affairs under the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Brunei).
It continued with a religious talk titled “Sakinah Family: Built with Love, Sustained with Responsibility” delivered by Assistant Religious Development Officer Muhammad Safwan bin Mohd Suffian from the Islamic Da’wah Centre.
The talk emphasized the importance of nurturing a sakinah (harmonious) family rooted in love that is not only felt but also actively demonstrated through meaningful communication, quality time, and consistent care among family members, highlighting the family unit as a cornerstone of social stability and well-being.
