Azerbaijan Parliament Speaker Pays Tribute to Heydar Aliyev During Visit to Serbia

Belgrade, June 3, 2026 – The Europe Today: Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Parliament, the Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova paid tribute to Azerbaijan’s National Leader Heydar Aliyev during her working visit to Serbia.

As part of her visit, Gafarova visited the monument dedicated to Heydar Aliyev in Tašmajdan Park, where she laid flowers and honored the memory of the late Azerbaijani leader.

Following the commemorative ceremony, the parliamentary delegation headed by Gafarova visited the monument of renowned Serbian writer Milorad Pavić in Belgrade.

The visit formed part of the Azerbaijani parliamentary speaker’s official engagements in Serbia, reflecting the friendly relations and growing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Serbia, including in the parliamentary and cultural spheres.

The tribute to Heydar Aliyev and the visit to the monument of Milorad Pavić underscored the importance both countries attach to preserving historical memory and promoting cultural understanding as a component of bilateral relations.
