Turkmenistan, Georgia Reaffirm Commitment to Strengthen Trade and Economic Cooperation

Tbilisi, June 10, 2026 – The Europe Today: Turkmenistan and Georgia have reaffirmed their mutual interest in strengthening trade and economic relations following a high-level meeting held on Tuesday between the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Georgia, Dovletmyrat Seyitmammedov, and Georgia’s Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Tea Ioseliani.

The meeting was also attended by the Director General of JSC “Georgian Railway,” Lasha Abashidze, according to the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia.

During the discussions, the two sides reviewed a wide range of issues related to bilateral economic cooperation, including prospects for increasing trade turnover, attracting investment, and expanding collaboration in mutually beneficial sectors.

Both parties noted the positive momentum in Turkmen-Georgian relations and emphasized the significant potential for further development of ties between the business communities of the two countries. Particular attention was given to creating favorable conditions for the implementation of joint projects, strengthening direct contacts between relevant government agencies and private sector representatives, and improving the legal and regulatory framework governing bilateral cooperation.

The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their readiness to maintain a constructive and continuous dialogue aimed at deepening economic engagement and advancing mutually beneficial initiatives.

Officials also recalled recent high-level engagements, including the meeting on May 8, 2026, in Ashgabat between the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili. On the same day, the fifth meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Georgian Commission on Economic Cooperation was held, where both sides discussed the current state and future prospects of bilateral trade and economic relations.
