Rabat, September 19, 2026 – The Europe Today: The Moroccan government has called on employers in both the public and private sectors to make necessary arrangements to enable workers to exercise their right to vote in the legislative elections scheduled for September 23, 2026.
In a statement issued on Friday, the government urged heads of public administrations, directors-general, managers of public institutions and enterprises, and presidents of territorial councils to provide employees and staff with the necessary flexibility to cast their ballots on election day.
The government said the measure follows Circular No. 14-26 issued by Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch on September 1. The arrangements are intended to allow executives, civil servants, employees and agents working in public services to exercise their individual right to vote while ensuring that public services and institutions continue to operate normally.
The call also extends to the private sector. The General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) has urged companies to show flexibility in working hours on September 23 to enable employees who wish to vote to reach polling stations.
CGEM President Mehdi Tazi, in a message to members, noted that polling stations will remain open nationwide from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., encouraging companies to adjust work schedules where necessary to facilitate employees’ participation in the electoral process.
The September 23 vote will elect members of Morocco’s House of Representatives, the lower chamber of Parliament. According to Morocco’s official election portal, 395 seats are to be contested in the legislative elections.
The measures are aimed at facilitating employees’ participation in the elections while maintaining the continuity of public services and the normal functioning of workplaces.
