Karachi, June 27, 2024, The Europe Today: The Pakistan women’s cricket team commenced a training camp on Wednesday in Karachi in preparation for next month’s Women’s Twenty20 Asia Cup 2024, according to a statement from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
The four-day training camp, held at the Hanif Mohammad High-Performance Centre in Karachi, is aimed at readying the team for the upcoming tournament scheduled to take place in Sri Lanka from July 19 to 28.
“A total of 28 cricketers have been invited to the camp by the women’s national selection committee to assess and evaluate players’ performances before announcing the squad for the event,” the PCB stated.
The players will participate in practice sessions and T20 practice games under the guidance of senior coaches Abdur Rehman and Hanif Malik.
The PCB also announced the team management for the Asia Cup, with Muhammad Wasim as the head coach. Former Test bowlers Abdur Rehman and Junaid Khan will serve as the spin bowling and assistant coaches, respectively.
The eight teams participating in the event are divided into two groups. Pakistan is in Group A alongside India, Nepal, and the United Arab Emirates, while Group B consists of Bangladesh, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia.
This training camp is a crucial step in the team’s preparations as they aim to perform strongly in the Women’s Twenty20 Asia Cup 2024.
