Ashgabat, November 15, 2024 — The Europe Today: The Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan hosted a significant meeting on November 14 between Deputy Minister Azat Atayev and Ms. Sarah Chiji, Regional Export Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, representing the United Kingdom. The discussion focused on expanding bilateral cooperation in the field of education, with a particular emphasis on the experiences and expertise of British institutions.
Ms. Chiji shared insights into the successful implementation of quality education systems in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, highlighting the interest of British universities, including Westminster, in collaborating with Turkmenistan. One of the key topics covered was the potential accreditation of Turkmen educational institutions and the provision of educational services in both secondary and higher education sectors.
The two sides also discussed plans for the Turkmen-British Trade and Industrial Council in 2023, where education will be a central focus. They agreed to begin with joint webinars on British educational standards and procedures to lay the groundwork for future collaboration.
Further in-depth discussions are expected during the World Education Forum in London in May, where Turkmenistan and the UK will continue to explore avenues to integrate Turkmenistan’s education system into the global educational framework.
Both the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and the British representatives expressed confidence that this partnership would significantly enrich the education system in Turkmenistan, fostering greater international integration and development in the sector.
