Ankara, November 26, 2024 – The Europe Today: Türkiye is doing far more to support Palestine, Gaza, and Lebanon—currently under relentless Israeli assault—than is visible or publicly acknowledged, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared on Monday. He reaffirmed Türkiye’s unwavering commitment to Palestine, stressing that the country would stand by its Palestinian brothers “with all our strength and all our resources” until the genocide ceases and Gaza, along with all of Palestine, is fully liberated.
Speaking after a Cabinet meeting in the Turkish capital, Erdogan underscored the severity of the ongoing Israeli offensive on Gaza, which has resulted in the deaths of over 44,000 people since October 2023. “Even if some insist on ignoring it, an extremely bloody and dangerous war has been going on right next to Türkiye for 14 months,” Erdogan said, highlighting the proximity of the conflict to Turkish borders.
The Turkish president expressed his firm belief that the Palestinian cause will ultimately prevail. “At the end of these difficult days, Palestinians will achieve salvation, peace, and tranquillity, while the oppressors will lose,” he stated, reaffirming his country’s enduring support for the Palestinian people.
Erdogan also issued a strong warning to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying that “the circle is tightening around him” in light of recent developments at the International Criminal Court (ICC). Last week, the ICC issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant over war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza, a move Erdogan referred to as evidence that Netanyahu’s “massacre network” was increasingly under international scrutiny.
Türkiye’s continued advocacy for Palestine, both diplomatically and through humanitarian aid, remains a central element of its foreign policy as the conflict in Gaza persists.
