N’Djamena, January 9, 2025 – The Europe Today: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi affirmed China’s commitment to deepening its strategic partnership with Chad during a visit to the African nation’s capital on Wednesday. Meeting with Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno, Wang emphasized China’s readiness to support Chad’s development and revitalization while strengthening bilateral ties in line with the outcomes of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit.
Wang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted the shared values and trust between the two nations. “China seeks to comprehensively expand mutually beneficial cooperation, deepen governance exchanges, and build an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future,” he said.
Elevating Bilateral Relations
Wang lauded President Mahamat’s 2023 visit to China, which marked a turning point in bilateral relations. The two nations elevated their ties to a strategic partnership, fostering collaboration in key sectors. “China has always upheld principles of equality and opposed hegemony, bullying, and unilateralism,” Wang stated, expressing appreciation for Chad’s independent and self-reliant development model.
Mahamat reaffirmed China’s importance as Chad’s strategic partner, emphasizing mutual respect and cooperation. “China’s support for Chad’s progress exemplifies the fruitful outcomes of China-Africa collaboration,” he said, adding that Chad fully supports China’s territorial integrity and opposes interference in its internal affairs.

In meetings with Chadian Prime Minister Allamaye Halina and Foreign Minister Abderaman Koulamallah, Wang discussed aligning the 10 FOCAC partnership action plans with Chad’s development priorities. He underscored China’s commitment to fostering all-round cooperation, opposing power politics, and safeguarding mutual interests.
Halina expressed gratitude for China’s enduring support and reiterated Chad’s prioritization of relations with China. “Chad remains steadfast in adhering to the one-China policy and welcomes greater Chinese investment,” Halina said, calling for expanded trade opportunities, particularly for Chadian agricultural products in the Chinese market.
Koulamallah praised China’s tangible contributions to Chad’s economic and social development, emphasizing the nation’s commitment to advancing bilateral ties and exploring broader cooperation.
