PM Chính Highlights Vietnam’s Strategic Goals and Growth Potential at Davos

Davos, January 21, 2025 — The Europe Today: Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to driving economic growth through the renewal of traditional growth pillars such as investment, exports, and consumption, while fostering innovation in the digital economy, circular economy, and sharing economy. His remarks were delivered during Vietnam’s National Strategy Dialogue at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, themed “Unleashing Vietnam’s Growth Potential: Promoting Investment and Innovation for a Strong Future.”

Attended by WEF’s Head of Regional Agenda for Asia-Pacific Joo-Ok Lee and more than 60 leaders from global corporations, the dialogue showcased Vietnam’s impressive economic achievements, including its 7% GDP growth in 2024, despite global economic challenges and natural disasters such as Typhoon Yagi.

Prime Minister Chính highlighted Vietnam’s resilience and ambition, outlining strategic priorities for 2025, including science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation as key growth drivers. He emphasized the country’s goal of achieving at least 8% growth in 2025 and double-digit growth in the following years.

Key initiatives discussed included:

  • Strategic Breakthroughs: Strengthening institutions, infrastructure, and human resources to promote transparency, sustainability, and innovation.
  • Infrastructure Projects: Completing the North-South high-speed railway within 10 years, developing expressways, initiating a railway project connecting to China, and building nuclear power plants.
  • Human Resources Development: Training 50,000 semiconductor engineers and enhancing workforce capabilities in emerging fields like artificial intelligence and cloud computing.

Chính assured participants of Vietnam’s commitment to addressing energy and real estate concerns, with plans to develop renewable energy and implement strategic housing projects. He encouraged investors to collaborate on infrastructure development, land reforms, and financial incentives to support Vietnam’s growth.

The dialogue reflected Vietnam’s dedication to sustainable and inclusive development, taking a people-centric approach that prioritizes environmental protection, fairness, and social equity.
