Astana, January 21, 2025 – The Europe Today: In a message to Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the significant role of Turkmenistan’s peacekeeping initiatives in addressing global challenges.
As reported by official Turkmen media on Monday, President Tokayev highlighted the exceptional importance of Turkmenistan’s peacekeeping efforts in the face of growing global challenges. He underscored that these initiatives serve as a reminder to the international community that peace, trust, and solidarity are the foundations for building a prosperous and secure future for all nations.
Tokayev specifically commended the initiatives launched during the International Year of Peace and Trust, declared by the United Nations General Assembly at the proposal of Ashgabat. He referred to this decision, which coincided with the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutral status, as a landmark event that reflected the effectiveness of the country’s foreign policy and its commitment to global peace and cooperation.
In his message, President Tokayev also noted the positive trajectory of Kazakh-Turkmen relations, built on the principles of good neighborliness and strategic partnership. He praised Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov’s leadership in promoting sustainable development and regional security, alongside his contributions to constructive international initiatives.
“I would like to particularly highlight your visionary leadership and ideas that have elevated Turkmenistan’s international authority, establishing Ashgabat as a leading center of diplomacy, peace, and stability. Through your efforts, Turkmenistan has set an example of responsible partnership, fostering trust and cooperation both in the region and beyond,” said Tokayev.
Reaffirming Kazakhstan’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Turkmenistan, President Tokayev expressed readiness to explore joint projects in energy, infrastructure, and ecology. He emphasized the potential of the two countries’ collaborative efforts to enhance the well-being and prosperity of the peoples of Central Asia.
