Turkmenistan to Host Central Asian Conference on Climate Change in May 2025

Ashgabat, February 20, 2025 – The Europe Today: Ashgabat will host the seventh Central Asian Conference on Climate Change (CACCC-2025) from May 13 to 15, 2025, focusing on climate finance, regional cooperation, and sustainable development, Turkmenistan’s official media reported on Wednesday.

The event will bring together government officials, international organizations, and climate experts from Central Asia to discuss investments in climate initiatives and the region’s transition to a green economy. Key topics on the agenda include water and energy security, climate adaptation, and financing sustainable projects.

A significant highlight of the conference will be the presentation of the third version of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC 3.0), outlining Central Asia’s updated commitments to climate action. Participants will also assess progress in climate initiatives across the region. The conference will place particular emphasis on pressing environmental challenges such as rising temperatures, desertification, and glacier melt.

The Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia (CAREC) is organizing CACCC-2025 in collaboration with the World Bank, the Central Asia Water and Energy Program (CAWEP), the RESILAND CA+ program, and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).

Applications for in-person participation are open until February 28, 2025, with online participation options also available.
