Moscow, February 28, 2025 – The Europe Today: The Vietnamese Embassy in Russia hosted a grand ceremony on Thursday to commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Russia, marking a significant milestone in their enduring partnership.
The event brought together approximately 600 distinguished guests, including high-ranking officials from various Russian government agencies and regions, representatives from foreign diplomatic missions in Russia, social organizations, businesses from both nations, public figures, and Russian veterans who have contributed significantly to bilateral relations. Additionally, members of the Vietnamese community in Russia attended to celebrate the historic occasion.
In his keynote address, Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Đặng Minh Khôi expressed profound pride in the steadfast and trustworthy friendship between the two countries over the past 75 years. He emphasized that their ties are built on a solid foundation of camaraderie, mutual support, and shared aspirations for development.
Khôi underscored the deep historical bonds between the two nations, recalling how they stood side by side not only in Vietnam’s struggle for independence and reunification but also in efforts toward a more equitable global order. He conveyed Vietnam’s enduring gratitude for Russia’s sincere and invaluable support during difficult times in the past and its continued assistance in the country’s present development journey.
The ambassador also highlighted the growing strength of political relations between Vietnam and Russia, citing the frequent exchange of high-level delegations as a powerful driver for deepening bilateral cooperation.
Speaking at the event, Special Representative of the Russian President for International Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoi reaffirmed the natural affinity many generations of Russians have held for Vietnam. Reflecting on a Vietnam News Agency (VNA) photographic exhibition showcased at the ceremony, he noted that the images captured pivotal historical moments, from President Hồ Chí Minh’s visit to Russia in the 1920s to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent visit to Vietnam in 2024.
Shvydkoi emphasized that despite the challenges encountered over more than seven decades, the deep-rooted friendship between Vietnam and Russia has remained unwavering. He further noted that Vietnam is among Russia’s closest partners within ASEAN, actively fostering cooperation between Russia and the regional bloc. Strengthening the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership, he asserted, serves the interests of both nations and contributes to peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region and the world at large.
The ceremony underscored the shared history, mutual respect, and enduring cooperation between the two countries, reaffirming their commitment to fostering stronger bilateral ties in the years to come.
