President Xi Jinping to Pay State Visit to Vietnam on April 14–15

Hanoi, April 11, 2025 — The Europe Today: General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, will undertake a state visit to Vietnam from April 14 to 15, the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Thursday.

The visit is being made at the invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Tô Lâm and State President Lương Cường. It underscores the continued commitment of both nations to deepening their long-standing friendship and strategic cooperation.

Since the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership in 2008, relations between the two Parties and the two countries have developed in a substantive, stable, and comprehensive manner across all areas.

Economic, trade, and investment cooperation between Vietnam and China has seen remarkable progress. China has been Vietnam’s largest trading partner for 20 consecutive years, while Vietnam currently ranks as China’s largest trading partner within ASEAN and its fourth-largest globally.

Bilateral trade volume surged from US$20 billion in 2008 to nearly $180 billion in 2022, reflecting a ninefold increase. Chinese investment in Vietnam has also grown significantly, from a cumulative total of $2 billion in 2008 to $25 billion at present. In 2023 alone, China emerged as the fourth-largest investor in Vietnam among all countries and territories.

Additionally, people-to-people exchanges and local-level cooperation have flourished, with nearly 60 provinces and cities in Vietnam establishing friendly ties with their counterparts in China.

President Xi Jinping’s upcoming visit is expected to further strengthen the robust and multi-dimensional relationship between Vietnam and China, paving the way for enhanced cooperation in regional and global contexts.
