Islamabad, May 10, 2025 – The Europe Today: Pakistan has initiated a major retaliatory military operation—Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos—in response to continued Indian aggression, according to security sources. The operation commenced in the early hours of Saturday and marks a significant escalation in the ongoing hostilities between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.
Security officials confirmed that the operation is targeting all identified Indian military bases allegedly used to launch attacks against Pakistani civilians and places of worship. Multiple strategic targets are being simultaneously engaged, with Pakistan deploying its advanced Al-Fatah and Fatah-1 missile systems. The Al-Fatah missile was launched in honour of Pakistani children who were killed during recent Indian cross-border shelling.
“Pakistan has neither forgotten nor will ever forget the sacrifice of these innocent martyrs,” said a senior military official. As part of the ongoing campaign, fresh footage was released showing successful missile strikes against Indian targets.
Key Military Engagements
Security sources confirmed that Pakistani drones have been conducting sustained surveillance operations over New Delhi and Gujarat. Notably, a military intelligence training facility in Rajouri—allegedly used to coordinate cross-border operations—was destroyed. Further confirmed targets include:
- Akhnoor Aviation Base, Bathinda Airfield, and Sirsa Airfield — all reported destroyed.
- Artillery gun position in Dehrangyari — eliminated.
- BrahMos missile storage sites in Nagrota and Beas — successfully targeted, with significant losses reported.
- Udhampur Airbase and Pathankot Airfield — rendered inoperable.
- Brigade headquarters at G-Top and supply depot in Uri — destroyed.
- Adampur Airfield, identified as the launch site for attacks on Sikh-populated regions and Pakistani targets — struck and destroyed.
Indian Retaliation and Civilian Casualties
In response, India reportedly launched air-to-surface missile strikes targeting three Pakistan Air Force (PAF) bases—Nur Khan, Murid, and Shorkot. During an emergency press conference, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry confirmed that the majority of Indian missiles were intercepted, and no damage was sustained by critical PAF assets.
“India’s cowardly acts of aggression have failed to achieve their objectives,” Lt Gen Chaudhry said, accusing New Delhi of provoking a broader regional crisis. “Their growing paranoia, following repeated failures, reflects internal instability,” he added.
Lt Gen Chaudhry confirmed Pakistan has electronic data on the origin and targeting of all Indian missiles launched, asserting that Indian forces recklessly endangered civilian populations. “The strikes in Amritsar and Adampur show deliberate targeting of Sikh areas,” he said.
He also warned of a potential Indian campaign to escalate the conflict regionally, referring to nearly simultaneous strikes in Indian Punjab and across the border in Afghanistan.
Cyberattack and Regional Implications
Security sources further reported widespread power outages across India, believed to be the result of a cyberattack that disabled up to 70% of India’s power grid infrastructure, affecting electricity supply nationwide.
In a notable development, Omar Abdullah, Chief Minister of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), confirmed the death of Sh. Raj Kumar Thappa, a senior civil officer, following Pakistani shelling in Rajouri. “We have lost a dedicated officer of the J&K Administrative Services,” Abdullah wrote on X.
High-Level Briefings and Warnings
At a media briefing attended by Air Vice Marshal Aurangzeb Ahmed (DGPR, PAF) and Rear Admiral Raja Rab Nawaz (Deputy Chief of Naval Staff – Operations), the military spokespersons categorically denied Indian claims of drone and rocket attacks on Indian military installations.
“Let India present evidence if it has any,” said Lt Gen Chaudhry, criticising Indian media for propagating “fabricated narratives.”
He reiterated that Pakistan’s response has been confined to legitimate military targets involved in attacks on Pakistani civilians. However, he warned that should India escalate the conflict further, Pakistan would target high-value military and economic assets.
Conclusion
Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos—named after a Qur’anic reference in Surah Al-Saff, symbolising unity and steadfastness—reflects Pakistan’s declared resolve to defend its territorial integrity and protect its citizens. Both military and political leaderships have warned that any further provocation from India will be met with severe consequences.
The situation along the Line of Control and broader borders remains highly volatile, with growing concerns among international observers over regional stability.
