Brussels, April 21, 2026 – The Europe Today: A thematic event titled “Bridging Continents: Turkmenistan’s Evolving Transit and Logistics Potential” was held in Brussels, highlighting Turkmenistan’s growing role in advancing sustainable and efficient transport connectivity between Europe and Asia, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Belgium announced on Monday.
The event brought together ambassadors accredited in Brussels, representatives of European institutions, think tanks, business communities, specialized companies, and media organizations, serving as a platform for broad-based dialogue on regional connectivity.
Officials from Turkmenistan’s State Customs Service presented key reforms aimed at modernizing the country’s customs system. These included enhanced border procedures, accelerated digitalization, implementation of risk management mechanisms, and expanded capacity at border checkpoints to facilitate smoother trade flows.
Addressing the gathering, Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Belgium, Sapar Palvanov, emphasized the strategic importance of transport and logistics in ensuring international economic stability. He highlighted ongoing national infrastructure initiatives designed to strengthen Turkmenistan’s position as a key Eurasian transit hub.
European representatives also expressed growing interest in expanding connectivity with Central Asia. Charlotte Adriaen of the Directorate-General for International Partnerships and European Parliament member Cristian Terheș underscored the importance of developing the Trans-Caspian Corridor and enhancing cooperation in logistics and customs administration.
According to organizers, the forum provided an important venue for fostering engagement among diplomats, policymakers, experts, and business leaders, reinforcing shared interest in building resilient and interconnected transport networks across regions.
