Rio de Janeiro, May 3, 2026 – The Europe Today: Colombian pop icon Shakira delivered a spectacular free concert at Copacabana Beach on Saturday night, attracting an estimated two million fans, according to city officials.
The massive turnout made the event one of the largest live performances in recent years at the iconic waterfront, following similarly large-scale shows by Madonna in 2024 and Lady Gaga last year.
The concert was part of Shakira’s global “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” tour, named after her 2024 album. The performance began around 11 p.m., more than an hour behind schedule, but was met with overwhelming enthusiasm as fans cheered and applauded. The night sky lit up with synchronized drones spelling out “I love you Brazil” in Portuguese.
Reflecting on her long-standing connection with the country, Shakira told the crowd, “I arrived here when I was 18 years old, dreaming about singing for you. And now look at this. Life is magical.”
The singer performed a series of her biggest hits, including “Hips Don’t Lie,” “La Tortura,” and “La Bicicleta.” She concluded the show with “BZRP Music Sessions #53/66,” a track released following her highly publicized separation from Gerard Piqué.
During the concert, Shakira also delivered an empowering message celebrating women’s resilience, stating, “Us women, every time we fall we get up a little wiser.”
The event further cemented Rio de Janeiro’s reputation as a global hub for large-scale open-air concerts, drawing millions to its famed coastline.
