Astana, May 20, 2026 – The Europe Today: The second meeting of interior and public security ministers in the “Central Asia–China” format was held in Astana, bringing together senior officials from Central Asian states and China to discuss regional security and cooperation against transnational crime.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, the meeting was attended by Tajik Interior Minister Ramazon Rahimzoda, along with the interior ministers of Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, as well as China’s minister of public security.
Participants emphasized the importance of strengthening coordinated efforts to combat transnational organized crime and address emerging regional security challenges.
Speaking at the meeting, Rahimzoda noted that issues related to combating transnational crime have become increasingly important for Central Asia and neighboring countries.
“Threats linked to terrorism, extremism and separatism require us to continuously strengthen security measures and expand international cooperation,” he stated.
The ministers discussed a wide range of security concerns, including the fight against illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, preventing their cross-border movement, and countering the online distribution of drugs through internet platforms and messaging applications.
The meeting also focused on enhancing international cooperation mechanisms to combat cybercrime and improve regional coordination in addressing modern security threats.
