Indonesia-France Business Council Secures $3.5 Billion in Deals

Indonesia

Jakarta, May 31, 2026 – The Europe Today: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s state visit to France has resulted in four commercial agreements valued at US$3.5 billion (approximately Rp61.25 trillion), marking a significant step forward in strengthening economic and strategic ties between the two countries.

According to a statement issued by Indonesia’s Government Communications Agency (Bakom) on Saturday, Minister of Investment and Downstream Development Rosan Roeslani announced that the agreements were finalized during the launch of the France-Indonesia High-Level Business Council on May 28.

Roeslani described the newly established council as more than a platform for dialogue between business leaders, emphasizing its role in promoting investment, trade, and strategic cooperation that delivers tangible benefits to both nations.

“This forum does not only accommodate dialogue between business actors, but also serves as a driving force to encourage investment, trade, and strategic cooperation with tangible benefits for both countries,” he said.

The launch ceremony was witnessed by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and French President Emmanuel Macron. The forum brought together 30 leading executives and industry stakeholders from Indonesia and France, representing companies with a combined market capitalization of approximately US$1.3 trillion.

The business council is jointly chaired by Antoine de Saint-Affrique and Anindya Bakrie. The initiative aims to deepen economic cooperation and facilitate new investment opportunities between the two countries.

Roeslani noted that confidence among French businesses in Indonesia continues to grow, reflecting the country’s status as a strategic partner with strong long-term growth prospects and an increasingly competitive investment environment.

“The French business community’s trust in Indonesia continues to grow. The agreements showed that Indonesia is considered a strategic partner with long-term growth prospects and an increasingly competitive investment climate,” he stated.

Looking ahead, the Indonesia-France Business Council has set an ambitious target of tripling bilateral trade by 2035 through enhanced cooperation between the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) and the French business federation MEDEF International.

President Prabowo returned to Indonesia on Saturday after concluding his working visit to France. During his stay in Paris, he received a state welcome at Les Invalides and held bilateral talks with President Macron at the Élysée Palace, followed by a state dinner.

The visit, Prabowo’s fourth trip to France since assuming office in 2024, also included participation in Eid al-Adha prayers with members of the Indonesian community at the Indonesian Embassy in Paris on May 27.

The outcomes of the visit underscore the growing economic partnership between Indonesia and France and signal renewed momentum in bilateral trade, investment, and strategic cooperation.
