Hanoi, September 18, 2024 – The Europe Today: The Vietnamese Wushu team has achieved a commendable fourth position in the medal tally at the 2024 Asian Wushu Championships, which concluded recently in Macao, China. The team delivered an impressive performance, securing three gold medals, two silver medals, and nine bronze medals, placing behind top contenders China, Iran, and Malaysia.
Vũ Văn Trung, the head of the wushu section at the Sports Authority of Việt Nam, praised the efforts of the athletes and coaching staff. “The results in taolu (performance) and sanda (combat) reflect the dedication of both the coaching staff and the athletes. We appreciate the excellent fighting spirit demonstrated by our martial artists in the finals,” he remarked on Sunday.
This championship, recognized as the most significant international event for Vietnamese athletes this year, provided an invaluable opportunity for competitors to enhance their skills and gain experience at the highest level.
The tournament featured 300 elite martial artists from 20 countries and territories, with 11 nations securing gold medals.
