Bishkek, November 5, 2024 – The Europe Today: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov have signed 19 significant agreements across various sectors, including security, energy, education, health, and culture, fortifying the strategic partnership between their two nations. This milestone, achieved during Erdogan’s official visit to the Kyrgyz capital of Bishkek, marks a new chapter in Türkiye-Kyrgyzstan relations, as both leaders announced an elevation of their partnership to a comprehensive strategic level.
President Erdogan emphasized the depth and productivity of the discussions held with President Japarov, reflecting on the strong historical and cultural ties binding their countries. “We have raised our strategic partnership, established in 2011, to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership that befits our brotherhood,” Erdogan said, underscoring the strength of their enduring alliance.
Among their shared ambitions, both leaders stressed the importance of boosting bilateral trade, with Türkiye standing as one of the top five investors in Kyrgyzstan. In 2023, the trade volume between the two countries reached approximately $2 billion, with a mutual goal to increase this figure to $5 billion in the coming years. Erdogan reiterated Türkiye’s dedication to Kyrgyzstan’s growth, highlighting the ongoing contributions of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) and other institutions. “Through TIKA and other relevant institutions, we will continue our efforts to enhance the well-being of our Kyrgyz brothers and sisters with unwavering determination,” he affirmed.
The leaders also discussed pressing regional issues, particularly the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and conflicts within Palestinian territories and Lebanon. Erdogan called for solidarity among Turkic nations, describing the events as a “human tragedy” and urging for a unified and strong stance against violence in the region.
In a symbolic gesture underscoring the nations’ deep respect, President Japarov awarded Erdogan the Manas Order, one of Kyrgyzstan’s most prestigious honors. Receiving the award with gratitude, Erdogan remarked, “I accept the Manas Order with great pride as an enduring symbol of the eternal brotherhood between our countries.” He expressed appreciation for the honor, viewing it as a fitting conclusion to his official visit to Kyrgyzstan, a country he fondly referred to as his “ancestral homeland.”
The agreements signed and the reaffirmed commitment to regional unity signal a reinforced alliance between Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan, with both nations poised to deepen cooperation on a broad array of fronts.
