Ankara, November 23, 2024 – The Europe Today: The Turkish Human Rights and Equality Institution (TIHEK) has launched a new website dedicated to promoting and protecting children’s rights, coinciding with Universal Children’s Rights Day. The platform aims to enhance awareness and provide direct access to information on children’s rights.
Speaking at the launch event held at TIHEK headquarters, President Muharrem Kilic highlighted the initiative’s purpose and significance. “This website is designed to grant children access to applications submitted to the institution and the decisions made, while also serving as a comprehensive source of information on children’s rights,” Kilic stated.
He emphasized that children’s rights are a core focus for TIHEK, noting the institution’s track record of implementing various projects to address the needs of children. Kilic expressed hope that the website would eventually evolve into a platform where children could directly submit their applications.
Addressing the challenges of the digital age, Kilic underlined the importance of providing reliable resources to counter misinformation. “In an era of increasing digitalization, there is an urgent need for effective filters, tools, and mechanisms to distinguish between true and false information. The TIHEK children’s website will serve as a vital resource to ensure access to accurate information,” he remarked.
Kilic reaffirmed that children’s rights are an integral part of the universal human rights framework and stressed the significance of directly transmitting information to children to enhance their understanding.
The new website is expected to play a crucial role in fostering awareness and engagement, empowering children to actively participate in matters affecting their rights.
