Azerbaijani, Iranian Foreign Ministers Discuss Bilateral and Regional Relations

Baku, March 12, 2025 – The Europe Today: Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov held a telephone conversation today with his Iranian counterpart, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, to discuss key aspects of Azerbaijan-Iran bilateral ties and regional cooperation.

During the conversation, Minister Bayramov underscored the importance of political dialogue in strengthening the longstanding relations between the two nations. Both sides highlighted the strategic significance of joint projects in energy, transport, and investment, emphasizing the role of transport corridors passing through Iran in facilitating regional connectivity. They also noted the importance of infrastructure initiatives linking Azerbaijan’s western regions with the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, which offer new economic opportunities for the broader region.

The foreign ministers further acknowledged the vital role of the Azerbaijan-Iran Intergovernmental Economic Commission in fostering trade and economic cooperation.

Additionally, the two diplomats exchanged views on other matters of mutual interest, reaffirming their commitment to continued dialogue and collaboration.
