Turkmenistan, UNICEF Discuss Humanitarian Cooperation and UN Collaboration

Ashgabat, June 17, 2025 – The Europe Today:  On June 16, 2025, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a meeting with Jalpa Ratna, UNICEF Representative in Turkmenistan and current Acting UN Resident Coordinator in the country. The meeting took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The two sides engaged in a comprehensive discussion on key aspects of Turkmenistan’s cooperation with the United Nations and its specialized agencies. Particular attention was given to the country’s humanitarian activities in light of the ongoing situation in the Middle East.

It was noted that Turkmenistan consistently demonstrates its commitment to the principles of humanism and international solidarity by providing support in response to humanitarian emergencies.

The meeting also emphasized Turkmenistan’s active cooperation with international organizations, especially the United Nations, in facilitating urgent humanitarian efforts. This includes coordinated assistance for the safe departure of foreign nationals currently located in Iran.

Both sides reaffirmed their mutual commitment to strengthening partnerships aimed at addressing regional and global humanitarian challenges.
