Ankara, June 18, 2025 – The Europe Today: Türkiye’s Grand National Assembly has unanimously adopted a resolution condemning Israel’s continued military campaign in Gaza, its provocative actions across the region, and recent attacks targeting the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The motion, passed on June 17 and published in the Official Gazette on Wednesday, strongly denounces what lawmakers described as “crimes against humanity” perpetrated by Israel. The statement highlights decades of occupation, systemic violence, and the most recent bombardments that have led to the deaths of thousands of civilians in Gaza.
The Turkish Parliament characterized the ongoing Israeli military operations as a “genocide against the people of Gaza” and further condemned Israel’s cross-border strikes against Iran, warning that such actions threaten to escalate into a wider regional conflict.
“We strongly condemn Israel’s attacks on Iran and the genocide it has carried out against the people of Gaza,” the resolution declared. It reaffirmed Türkiye’s solidarity with the “innocent peoples of the region” and reiterated the country’s commitment to supporting diplomatic efforts for lasting peace.
The Turkish legislature also criticized the global community’s muted response to the violence, urging international institutions and world governments to break their silence and fulfill their “legal and diplomatic responsibilities” in the face of state-led aggression.
Addressed to the United Nations and other international bodies, the resolution reaffirmed Türkiye’s position in favor of justice, peace, and regional stability in the Middle East, and emphasized the need for collective international action to prevent further bloodshed.
